Journal of a Greek learner: week 2 ๐ŸŒฟ

Hey ๐Ÿ‘‹

The second week of Speak Greek! has finished, and once again we were made to work hard.

The focus of the week was adjectives and words that change shape.

Here are my takeaways from week 2:

  1. Vocabulary is key. I like to say we are in the sentence construction business. Ultimately that's why we are all on the course. To say sentences in Greek, correctly and quickly - that's the aim. But the building blocks of those sentences are the individual words. Mostly the first 500 Greek words. Put simply, the more words you know, the more sentences you can build. The better you know the words, the quicker you can build them.
  2. Mentality and motivation. As the banner on our YouTube account says: GREEK IS HARD. The grammar is hard, as are the alphabet and the pronunciation. The students in Speak Greek! are people that do hard things. That is a mentality. We are having fun, but I would be lying if I said it was easy. Learning by getting corrected requires motivation to keep going.

Have a great week, and learn some Greek.
